Program Description
Racism is still experienced by clients and counselors of color. The forms that racism takes in U.S. society today are different from a generation ago when segregation, open harassment, and discrimination were the norm – or before that, when overt violence and even lynching were common. Today, racism has gone underground in ways that make it harder to detect in society, partly because it is so integrated into our culture. Learning about the forms that racism takes today, known as everyday racism or modern day racism, is important for white counselors especially, in order to increase awareness of microaggressions, misunderstandings, and other possible harms caused by implicit bias and unexamined conditioned tendencies and behaviors within white culture.

Policies
Sorry for all the fine print however we do want you to be aware of our policies in effect for this training:
1. CONSENT TO RECORD If you are participating in a live program: Most of these are recorded in order to create an on-demand version of the training. Your registration for this training indicates your permission to be audio and/or video recorded and for any comments entered into chat to be preserved and potentially included in other formats of the training that Resonant Equity may offer. You will not be recorded while viewing components of a pre-recorded on-demand course.
2. DISCOMFORT MAY OCCUR The values that Resonant Equity attempts to live by are embracing diversity and creating supportive, respectful learning experiences for all participants. We also are focused on challenging systems of oppression, and sometimes those systems live in ourselves – which means that our trainings do not shy away from challenging privilege and unexamined bias that lives in each of us. This means that we don’t promise a “safe space” for those holding privilege and power. At times, participants may experience discomfort as part of the learning experience. In live experiences, we will strive to interrupt and address microaggressions if they occur. And, our equity values mean that we do not discriminate based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender identity, sexual or romantic preferences or interests, political orientation, age, disability, or any other personal characteristic or identity. Our community is enriched by diverse perspectives and experiences, and we welcome you to join us on this journey of growth and learning.
3. ACCOMMODATIONS If you identify as a person with a disability or have other limitations that affect your participation and you require accommodations, please let us know by email to programs@resonantequity.org before enrolling in the course.
4. REFUNDS The Refund Policy for each event is specified along with the cost. By registering for the event, you agree to the stated policy for fees, refunds, and cancellations. Please contact us at info@resonantequity.org if there are questions.
5. PARTICIPATION VERIFICATION Participation in the course and completion of lessons are verified using access logs.
6. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS Completing every lesson in the course, including a post-test and course evaluation, is required in order to earn continuing education credit, if it is offered.
7. CONCERNS, COMPLAINTS, DISPUTES We welcome your feedback about any aspect of our training programs and events. If a participant has a concern, we encourage starting with an attempt at informal resolution. Please reach out to the Program Administrator at info@resonantequity.org to share your concerns and we will reply back within a week. If informal resolution is unsuccessful or not feasible, you may submit a formal written complaint with your name, contact information, details of what happened and your objections, any supporting documentation, and your suggestion for resolving the issue. Our Program Administrator will review the complaint and conduct a thorough investigation which may involve consulting with instructors, our board, partners, and other relevant parties. We will do our best to keep the complaint confidential though may need to share with others in order to resolve. We will respond to such complaints within 30 days. Complaints about ethics breaches may also be filed with the American Counseling Association and/or any continuing education credentialing organization with which we are affiliated.
Continuing Education Credit
At this time, Resonant Equity is not approved as a continuing education provider for on-demand programs (we are approved for live programs though!). Your participation in this training in full and completion of the post-training requirements including a post-test and a course evaluation will qualify you to earn a certificate of completion, which may not be accepted by your licensing board as proof of satisfying their continuing education requirements. All of our programs are evidence based and are designed to meet quality standards for training mental health practitioners, and we hope you will choose to take this program for its educational value in your clinical practice. We cannot provide completion certificates for partial participation.
